Wirra Wirra Church Block 2019

Deep plum with a scarlet edge. Defined by fragrant red and black cabernet fruits with rich plums, surrounded by leaf and polished leather. Bright red and black fruits are framed by fine sandy tannins and fresh cedar. The wine displays a lovely brightness and generosity of fruit that is the hallmark of McLaren Vale, with the supporting tannin structure to reward medium-term ageing.

“This latest vintage of the McLaren Vale winery’s best-known and sough-after label reveals another step up in quality. Winemaker Paul Smith’s judicious blending of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot is in near-perfect balance, its flavours both generous and subtle.”     John Fordham, Sunday Telegraph

"Cabernet Sauvignon (46%) Shiraz (42%) Merlot (12%). 10% new oak, with a mix of French and American (30%).

Blackcurrant, cranberry, baking spice and cocoa, sage and herb. It’s fresh and a little but juicy, but has a slight hardness to texture, though the flavours are appealing, and the overall impression is positive. Good wine, and likely better with a year or two in bottle.
