Murdoch Hill The Landau Syrah 2019

 James Halliday 92 Point
Estate vineyard, 15% whole bunches, wild fermentation. Matured 10 months in 8% new barrels. An elegance here, understated yet assured. Familiar Hills peppery notes add their spice on the palate, which is gently medium bodied at most. Takes shiraz to a quieter place than most folks would be used to. Will grow in stature. Tasted 8 months before due release. Tony Love

Fragrant, floral perfumed, very pretty, sweet berry fruited, a whiff of amaro in there too. Supple, slurpy texture, sour-sweet berry fruitiness, some game meat, pepper, oily in a way and finishes dry and pleasingly bitter. A real good times slurper, here, though you’d say that the web of tannins takes it up a notch from simplicity. The Wine Front, 27 March, 2021
